Loved this article. The honesty and vulnerability of it all. And yes, women continue to be sidelined within the healthcare industry and our only options seems to be that of advocating for self, which goes to your point for the need to share our experiences. Also, I'm forever amazed by the fact that the US doesn't have paid maternity leave. Here in Kenya, its 3 months of paid maternity leave. Then you can add your 21 days annual leave to it, which is also paid, and if you decide to take even more time, that is open for negotiation with your company. But at least you have 4 months assured, with pay. We are also more communal here and nannies are quite affordable. It does take a village to raise a child and to help a new mom. We really need to share more though. The pressure is too much!
