She was getting ready to do the thing she always does when she feels like she’s been backed into a corner.

The thing that once she does it, she will always regret it, not too far along down the line.

The only difference this time round is she was very much aware of the thing and how it shows up. So she caught herself.

She was not going to let history repeat itself. Not with this thing. This was not something to be proud of when it repeated itself.

So, she acknowledged the presence of the thing. She invited it to her table as she slowly slipped her tea. She was not going to share her sacred tea with the thing. That’s asking a lot.

She looked at it intently and with every sip of her well-brewed cup of tea, she felt the overwhelming power it had on her, slowly weaken.

She surprised herself; at how calm she was. But tea does that to her. Tea reminds her of who she is. You can’t fully enjoy a cup of tea and your mind is all over the place. You’ve got to be present.

With the final sip, she looked at it and said, “I’ve allowed you to ruin things for me too many times. I’ve allowed you to convince me that it was OK to run and hide because no one would care anyway. I’ve let you steal so many precious moments from me. But that ends today. I am taking back my power. And yes, I know you’ll keep showing up every time I stumble but just like today, I’ll welcome you, I’ll face you and then I’ll leave you. You don’t run the show anymore, fear.”

Epilogue

Every time she did something that felt vulnerable yet powerful, she would always run in fear and end up destroying all the work she had done up to that point. She was the queen of “Let’s just burn it and start afresh.”

The only problem with this strategy is too many beautiful things end up incomplete and wasted. And she was determined not to waste any of her magic ever again.

Because truly, what’s life without your version of magic? Too boring. That’s what.

And no, we’re not here to be boring. We’re here to live the most magnificent lives we can muster.

I hope you find the courage to face off with whatever holds you back from experiencing your magic to its fullest.
